We support the following organisations

Trade Aid

It's where we buy our coffee. Try the espresso grind for fair trade guilt free caffeine. We buy in bulk. It's what keeps us running. No, seriously. Check out Trade Aid online. It's probably not a direct connection but we believe that supporting fair trade helps indirectly with education and therefore with literacy and numeracy. Your purchases could help raise the literacy and numeracy levels of a family in the developing world.

Kiva.org

If you don't know the Kiva story you should check out their website. It's a refreshing and brilliant idea in an increasingly cynical and commercially-driven world. For us it's about putting financial literacy and numeracy into action. Kiva facilitates micro-finance loans to individuals and organisation in the developing world. You can make a difference for as little as US$25. It's a loan. You get it back or you can reinvest.

Freerice.com

You can learn new words and fight world hunger at the same time. Simply answer to the vocabulary questions and for each answer you get right, they donate 10 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program. Bookmark the website and practise every day. As with, Trade Aid and Kiva.org we don't make any money off these sites. We just think they are worth supporting.

Habitat for humanity

Poor literacy and numeracy often goes together with poor housing and poor health. Habitat for humanity work with volunteers to build and rebuild housing that is affordable and liveable. Improving literacy and numeracy levels goes together with improving quality of life. Habitat is another organisation worthy of your time and money. You can see what Habitat New Zealand does here.
